Hands-on learning experiences within the wild landscape of the Jocassee Gorges ecoregion in SC and NC, by way of beautiful Lake Jocassee!
The Jocassee Gorges region contains some of the most unique ecosystems on earth, making it the perfect outdoor classroom for children and adults to explore, discover, and ponder. From stream ecology to plant and wildlife adaptations to climate and geology, there are lessons in nature everywhere one looks. Join Jocassee Wild Outdoor Education for an unforgettable day of adventure and discovery. We explore Lake Jocassee by way of a pontoon boat, along the shoreline, in the woods, and in the water! We begin our fun and educational journey at the main boat dock at Devils Fork State Park.
Jocassee Wild Child programs are developed for 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grade classes, but they captivate ages 4-99!
Jocassee Wild Naturalist programs are more advanced explorations of the Jocassee Gorges ecoregion, suitable for adults of all ages.
Jocassee Loon Research is a one or two week citizen science-oriented commitment to study winter behaviors and migration patterns of the Common loon, with lodging at the Devils Fork State Park Mountain Villas.
