Tree-in-airs
Once upon a time in the near future, a trillionaire—the world’s first human to have accumulated so much money—will seek the cooling shade of a nearby tree. The human lives a life of money and power: travel, extravagance, prestige; Tree lives the life of trees: grounded. Trillionaire has bought his way into space. Tree has converted carbon into wood. Trillionaire has invented luxury cars to drive him around. Tree has fed bees and birds and caterpillars. Trillionaire has slashed the national budget. Tree has provided homes for birds and squirrels.
With all his riches, Trillionaire still can’t turn sunshine into sugar.
Who would you rather spend a day with, the trillionaire, or the tree? ~K
