Red aurora over lake with starry night sky and dark horizon.

Gratitude

What a week it’s been along the base of the Blue Wall. Showers of leaves floating down like fat snowflakes on Monday. An unexpected snow cloud showering over Jocassee on an otherwise clear, bone-chilling Tuesday afternoon. A view of mesmerizing colors from aurora borealis dancing into South Carolina mountains on Tuesday and Wednesday nights. Cloudless, clear, blue-sky, Indian summer days on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. More leaf showers on Saturday. We walk quiet neighborhood streets under the golden glow of sunlit oak and hickory trees, with squirrels-that-sound-like-elephants rummaging through fallen leaves in search of fallen nuts. So many gifts. And it all plays to the ambient music of crickets, sweetly serenading throughout the shorter, crisper days. So much gratitude. ~K
