Just Imagine!
These wild children… are they entering the not-so-far-away land of imagination? Is this young lady imagining herself as a microscopic being, freshly immerged from a watery home, hidden and quenched in a bed of moss? Is this child writing the story where he is once again a Cherokee youth, slipping quietly in deerskin shoes up a worn path along an effervescent river? And this child, with his hand immersed in ancient waters, anchored to an ancient rock… is he remembering time before humans, when the infinitesimal creep of tectonic plates pushed this land skyward even as it eroded and piled and pressurized itself into new rock? We don’t know. All we have are these photographs, and our own imaginations. But this, we do know… You, who are supporting our Jocassee Wild Child fundraising campaign with amounts ranging from $20 to $10,000, you are imagining the impact this one special day on Lake Jocassee makes on these children, because most of you have been here and experienced the magic of this special place for yourselves. You, who are making this day possible for so many local children, “get” Jocassee, and your donations are helping foster this love of place for a whole new generation. Thank you. ~K
