Daily walks have resumed, but it is hard to get far fast when every bend of the pathway presents a picture of such overwhelming beauty. Colorful leaves drift to the ground around us, laying a carpet of yellows and reds; green mosses are vibrant on every rotting stump, silver lichens are vibrant on every exposed rock. Again and again I reach for the camera to capture these magical slivers of time. The woods are noisy with squirrels kuk-ing and quaa-ing to warn the world of our approach. The smell is damp and delicious, with the occasional tang of unseen wild animal. Mica the Wonder Dog appears just long enough to check on us, and she’s off again, plunging into the creek between banks of doghobble. Oh, how I’ve missed these walks. ~K
