Welcome to Jocassee’s second summer. In most years it lasts til near the end of September. No crowds, the same cool water to swim in, the same warm days to enjoy. It’s summer for those in the know around here, those that wish to avoid the famous Jocassee crowds on summer weekends. Of course weekdays throughout the summer remain pretty tranquil here, but not everyone has the time to get here during the week. So this is your summer, and ours too. For reasons unexplained Duke Energy draws the lake down in early September, so there are now sandy beaches all around the lake shore. The major spots most everyone wants to visit on the lake are not crowded, and the rest of the lake is nearly abandoned. It’s pretty heavenly here. Come see. ~B
