Soggy, sodden, saturated ground squishes

Soggy, sodden, saturated ground squishes around my shoes with every step, putting to test that waterproof claim. Sheets of water shed across hard-surfaced roads, ponding and puddling into mucky, muddy pools. Fine, misty rain seeps into my skin, drips out of my nose. Waterlogged soil, waterlogged ditches, waterlogged me. Baby, it’s wet outside. Even the loons are complaining. What did one raindrop say to another? Two’s company, three’s a cloud. Will it ever stop raining? I hope not. But some  sunshine between the rainy days will be nice.  ~K
