Grain by grain, mountains slide towards sea. The steady flow of hundreds of millions of years have worn towering rocky spires of these eastern mountains down to smooth gray bedrock, ancient beyond imagination. Mountain captures rain, rain erodes rock, rock tumbles downhill into gently flowing streams, streams merge and merge again to become raging rivers, rivers tumble rock into sand, sand washes down, down, down, to the level of the sea.  Without the mountains there would be no beach.~K
