FALL

Inner fire glows through the understory in the shape of sourwood leaves, and yellowing muscadines betray the vine's clamber along the ground and up into any supporting structure. Thick, rich smell of hardwood smoke wafts from chimneys. Squirrels are crazy, burying everything they can carry.

Temperatures fall.

Sap falls.

Nuts and seeds and fruits fall.

Leaves fall.

Rain falls.

Dead and sodden limbs fall.

Night falls. ~K
