SILENCE

And light. Sunlight streaming through windless rain.

It’s been that kind of week at Lake Jocassee. Thanks to a forecast that predicted rain for most of the week, we’ve had the lake nearly all to ourselves. Us and the bass fishermen, a hard core lot to be sure. What rain we did receive came late in the day, leaving most of each day just right for meandering about. It is a somewhat sad fact that lots of timid folks take local weather forecasts as gospel, leaving silence and solitude available for those of us who don’t. It’s been a perfect week for paddling, for swimming, for just messing about in boats. Heaven sent, some would say.
SWIMMERS REPORT. 79 degree water temperature, air temperature in the low 80’s. That defines perfect swimming in the most swimmable lake you’ve ever entered! It’s not over for weeks, swimming folks. In most years you can swim comfortably in Lake Jo until at least mid-October!~B
