August in the Southeast is supposed to be hot and humid,

August in the Southeast is supposed to be hot and humid, but this week it’s been anything but on Lake Jocassee. Light breezes, fair skies, hot but not humid, and even spared from the usually predicable afternoon thunderstorms this time of year. Of course, that means fewer rainbows. Just can’t have it all. The lake water temperature is hovering around 80 degrees, and the swimming is perfect. Not nearly perfect. Not almost perfect. Perfect. Cool as to be totally rejuvenating, but not so cool that you’ll want to get out of the water after a short swim. Bring your floatie and plan to float your day away. I’ve seen these ridiculously big foam floats this year for the first time, big enough for the whole family and the dog. I’m thinking of getting one. Food, drinks, Kay and Mica, untethered for the day. Sounds like heaven to me. ~B
