HAPPY SEPTEMBER

everyone, or shoud I say Happy Hidden Summer Month!

HAPPY SEPTEMBER, EVERYONE,

This is THE best month for summer lake lovers. The crowds will be gone, but the lake will still be imminently swimmable. On weekdays you’ll be able to hear your echo along the shore, on weekends the crowds will be reasonable. It’s the best month to kayak, to explore, to swim, to just plain lollygag your day away in some hidden cove or backwater. So thank you flying footballs and public schools. The lake is ours, lake lovers. Come on over.

FALL BLOOM AND COLOR REPORT- Yellow flowers everywhere, sprays of itty bitty white flowers on cliff alumroot at local waterfalls, scarlet cardinal flower up Howard Creek, and some swamp hibiscus still blooming in a sidepocket cove on the south flank of Musterground Mountain. Black gums are poplars are beginning to show red and yellow, respectively, sourwoods are turning, that that one half of a sweetgum on Not-a-Camping Island... ~B
