JOCASSEE ADVENTURE CAMP - SPRING BREAK 2020

CAMPFIRE SKILLS

One of the most important wilderness skills you can have is the ability to start a fire. Let us give you some tips and tricks to starting a nice campfire that will keep you warm and well fed. We will head out to a Foothills Trail campsite to teach fire safety, learn how to build a campfire and even cook smores over the fire. Campers will go home with their very own fire starting kit, but even more important, the ability to build a safe campfire.

FAIRY ADVENTURE

Fairies in Jocassee Gorges? Of course! The Jocassee Gorges are home to some very special fairies that protect our incredible plant and animal species, like the elusive Green Salamander Fairy and the spicy scented Pygmy Pipe Fairy. Join us as we explore fairy legends on our way to a secret fairy spot in the Jocassee Gorges. We will learn how to spot fairy sign and then go on a fairy tracking adventure. We will wrap up our exploration by using our nature architecture skills to build a fairy house with natural materials. This magical fairy adventure will hone your powers of observation in nature and give kids of all ages (even grandparents!) a chance to show off creative building skills.
