The last week in November each year signals a transition for the JLT crew. As we head into the cooler season, we take a couple of well-deserved weeks to rest before gearing back up for the coming year. Our resident common loons are arriving now, just in time to celebrate the holidays with us, and they, too, will enjoy some R&R after their long flight from their summer nesting areas. We look forward to their arrival each year. The oaks, beeches and maples are showing good color and some still have green leaves. One afternoon this week, we watched a young bear swim across the Whitewater River channel and then climb the mountain between Bad Creek Hydro and the houses at Fisher Knob. Apparently they can swim twice as fast as a human being. This one didn’t seem to have any problem getting across the channel, even with the wind and the current against it. We’ll be back out here in mid-December, so don’t let the cooler temps keep you from coming out to enjoy the lake with us. Whatever we see, we’ll do our best to keep you cozy while we explore. From hot chocolate to soft blankets, we’ve literally got you covered from the inside out. ~Sheryl White, JLT guide.
