a group of people standing next to a lake

With the lack of recent rainfall, the lake is down 9’ below full pond. This gives us plenty of beach areas to pull up to, plus it makes the exposed shoreline more interesting to view. Instead of boating right up to some of the waterfalls like usual, now we’re having to beach the boats and walk up to a couple of them. There are sandbars in front of both Laurel Fork & Wright Creek Falls. Rain is in the forecast for next week, so we’re keeping our fingers crossed. The water surface temps are holding in the upper 70’s which makes swimming splendid. A few early Monarch butterflies are fluttering across the lake on their way to Mexico. Cloudless Sulfurs are also beginning to migrate south to avoid cooler temperatures. Several bald eagles have been spotted this week too. There are only a few more weeks to get those end of season swims in, so pack a lunch, grab a towel and come spend a few hours exploring with us.
